• A real party bar, Athenaeum has had its ups and downs over the years however has been ever present whilst the more exclusive bars and restaurants that surround it have come and gone.  Located at the top of King Street, on the corner of Spring Gardens and York Street, it’s only a stone’s throw from the shops on both Market Street and King Street, whilst also being close to the Town Hall and China Town.  It’s a large hall of a venue boasting marble statues and columns with an impressive looking bar.  The clientele can be a real mix, from hen nights to office parties and the drinks flow quickly with a number of promotions also available.  Food is also available.

Whilst you won’t find any Newton & Ridleys beer in here, closet ‘Corrie’ fans may want to pay it a visit, just to say they’ve drank in the Rover’s (albeit, it’s not the immaginary one featured in the show - that’s not far away in Granada Studios).
