The English Lounge - 64-66 High Street, Manchester, M4 1EA map
- The English Lounge is an attempt at bringing a london ‘old boys’ or gentleman club into the heart of manchester, the hard wood and leather furniture are typical of this style and there are plenty of books on the shelves. The English Lounge offers a massive range of traditional and cask ales, they claim ‘the biggest choice in Manchester’, as well as a reasonably priced wine menu along with a traditional british menu with some added surprises. Don’t make the mistake of walking by this place if you previously unimpressed by the Hog’s Head or Wheatsheaf, which previously sat here - The English Lounge is a massive improvement and well worth a visit.
- Cask Ales

Another great pub, being just outside the Arndale might put people off a bit, but this is a cool pub for a chill out session.
Cracking pub just off the beaten track but well worth the effort to find. Just near the start of the northern quarter. Good mix of people, food and atmosphere.
